Donald (Don) Anthony Brockman, 61, passed away May 2, 2006 at his home in Covina, California.
A 1962 graduate of Hoover High School in Glendale, California, Don served honorably in the United States Navy. Don received a recommendation to the US Naval Academy but was unable to serve due to age restriction. Following his service in the Navy, Don graduated from Cal Poly Pomona, earning a degree in civil engineering. He was a resident of Glendale and Pasadena, CA before moving to Covina in 2000.
A registered civil engineer and certified crane operator and certified crane examiner, he founded Construction Engineers and San Gabriel Valley Crane in Rosemead, California. Widely known and respected for his strong work ethic, Don worked in the construction engineering industry over 30 years. He fought a vigorous battle against lymphoma for six years, and skin cancer for two years.
His determination to continue living, loving and working was an inspiration to all who were privileged to know him. Survived by his beloved wife of 17 years, Gayla Jennings Brockman and a son, Daniel. Excerpts from the Pasadena Star-News published on 5/18/2006.
