Bio


Glen Richard Godbold died on Friday, April 26, at 6:45 PM in Palm Desert, California from complications from cancer, surrounded by his family. He was 68 years old. Glen Richard Godbold was born January 16, 1945 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He graduated from Herbert Hoover High School in Glendale, California in 1962, after which he entered the United States Air Force in October of 1962. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force in September, 1966, after which he went to work for I.B.M. where he started as a typewriter technician and worked his way up to a project manager and along the way earning numerous awards from the company for his achievements and professionalism. He retired in 2009. Glen belonged to a car club called Nova and was a car enthusiast for most of his life. He was a serious amateur golfer who played weekly, moving to a golf resort in Palm Desert where he played almost daily and maintaining a low handicap, even getting a hole in one once. He was a member of the Monterey Country Club Men's Golf Association where he lived and golfed regularly and ran the weekly Wednesday morning skins game, as well as a board member and second Vice President of the Pacific Seniors Golf Association through which he successfully competed in tournaments around the Western United States. When he was growing up he enjoyed hunting with his father Richard Godbold, and as an adult he and his father, along with friends, took annual fishing trips to June Lake in Northern California. He enjoyed camping with his boys when they were young, and after he retired from I.B.M. he and his wife Linda toured the United States in their motorhome. Glen is survived by his wife Linda, sons Phillip and Jeffrey Godbold, grandchildren Katelin, Heather, James, and Ashley Godbold, his mother Joanne Malis, and his brothers Gary Godbold, Brad Faber, and Michael Shermer and sister Karen Munoz
