Richard was born on August 20, 1929 in Kansas City, Missouri. He passed away on February 24, 2011. from lung complications due to many years of asthma and pneumonia. Richard taught Science for 39 years for the Glendale Unified School District. He also taught Earth Science courses at LA City College and Glendale Community College. He is survived by his wife, Karen Pack; his daughter, Darryn Sikora; and son, Keith Hopkins. He has four grandchildren and four nieces, one great niece and two great nephews. Richard is predeceased by his son, David Pack. A memorial service will be held on March 20, 2011, 2:00 p.m., at First Church of the Nazarene of Pasadena.
